We picked up our hire car this morning which we will have for four
days while we explore Snowdonia. Our first stop was a camping shop as we had run
out of cooking gas about a week ago and we will need gas as we plan on camping
while in the park. Then it was off to get some groceries. It was nice to not
have to worry about how much we bought or how much it weighed knowing that we
would easily be able to transport it in our car. We had only just got back to
our pristinely clean car and were ready to hit the road when we heard something
hit the paintwork. On investigation, it appeared that some large bird (we
suspect a duck) had decided to vacate its bowels while flying overhead. The
result was like a shot being fired out of a blunderbuss! Alas our once pristine
car is now liberally covered in shit!

After a short picnic lunch we took
off on a short walk of approximately 7 km to explore Aber Falls (Rhaeadr Fawr in Welsh) which plunges about 37 m over a sill of igneous rock.
On the way we passed a number of old rock walls and Iron Age stone
circles.

We camped at Llyn Gwynant Campsite alongside a small river feeding into Lake Gwynant (Llyn Gwynant in Welsh).
