Day 33: Porth Colmon to Aberdaron

Our guide book describes this as ‘one of the most wild and awe-inspiring days on the Welsh Coast, circling the Braich y Pwll headland at the end of the Llyn Peninsula, ‘the Lands End of Wales’.

There was certainly some spectacular scenery throughout the day however it was a very long and tiring day. It seemed much further than the 21.5km quoted in the book as there was a great deal of going up and down steep hills. We were both exhausted by the end of the day and it was a welcome relief to finally reach our destination at Aberdaron around 7.00pm.

The highlight of Greg’s day was the buxom barmaid at the Ship Hotel which we staggered into at the end of the day. The highlight of my day was finally reaching the top of Myndd Mawr and looking out over Bardsey Island.

The path clung to the side of the steep slopes - it was more like a sheep track in parts!
